Relationship of Self-reported Activities of Daily Living (ADL) and Physical Fitness Factors on Elderly Women Age

Abstract

|
This study examined self-reported and physical performance measurement of mobility in elderly women. The study hypothesized that age would modify the association between performance-based and self-reported measurement of mobility. The subjects were 142 elderly women, age range from 60¢¦85. ADL questionnaire 13 items were conducted, the functional assessment on same items were carried out afterwards. The data analysis were frequency analyze and independent t-test to compare the two measurements using SPSS 12.0 for window. According to the comparative analysis, differences were found on 9 items of the ADL including 6-minutes walk, crossing over, making beds, stair walking-up, and one leg standing, moving heavy package. health-related fitness were not significantly. Senior fitness test were significantly sit-to-stand, timed up-and-go, one leg with eyes opened, and 10m walk step numbers. In conclusion functional test and self-reported measurements had a moderate correlation by age.
